Watch out for your piston rings.

Actually I think there are differences between the S8 motor and the RS6/RS7 motor. Non RS models don't get engines from quattro gmbh...the RS6/RS7 version will be unique.

Has anyone here used APR ecu tunes? I have an 06 3.2L A3 and have considered getting one but idk if its worth it

For a naturally aspirated engine, the tune does about what you'd expect...5-15hp across the rev range. The single program flash is on sale right now for $349. Up to you.

Have you ever used an apr tune personally? Are they reliable? I'm not sure if I want to spend money on this. In your opinion does it make a noticeable difference?

If you don't want to spend the money on it, then don't.
You won't feel much of a difference with a naturally aspirated engine. I don't have an APR tune on my 2.0T (in hindsight I should have rather than GiAC), but I know those that do. APR is certainly tops when it comes to VAG tuning. They spend a lot of time making sure any tune they sell delivers OEM-like drivability.
In my opinion, for a VR6 a flash alone isn't worth it. It's only worth it if you plan on spending 2-3k on exhaust and intake as well to squeeze out more power.

Thanks for the help. I probably won't get it on the A3 but maybe I will tell my Dad to get one on his '01 S4 he just bought as I see that with the twin turbos the ecu flash adds a ton of power.
